Growing up in New York City, your coat was always the staple of your outfit during the fall and winter months. I remember holiday parties that my grandparents threw in their Brooklyn home, on the coat rack you would see long chic, wool coats and long beautiful furs that were worn by their guests. A little later in life, I realized that furs were not only coats that kept you warm but for some families, they were treasures and heirlooms that you take care of and pass down for generations and generations. I myself inherited one of my Mother’s furs in college and my Great Aunt Queenie’s fur shawls in high school. Wearing something my mother once wore makes the coat feel so much warmer. I look forward to passing the coat down to my future daughter one day.
